You need to give permission for this page to use your laptop or desktop’s camera.

Your device’s inbuilt webcam camera is usually positioned at the top and middle of your screen, so you want your eyes to be level with the top of your laptop or desktop.

Pro tip: For laptops, you’ll need to raise them up by placing a box or stack of books under them to get the height right OR lower your chair or sitting height if that’s an option

Is your face clearly visible? You want light from a window or lamp shining into your face, not back-lit. Before you start recording you will be able to see yourself on screen. Try rotating your laptop and seat around in a circle and see where you look the clearest and brightest. What you see is what you will get.

Are you somewhere quiet? Carpet or floors with rugs will reduce echo. Again, if you are no further than an arm’s length away from your device, it will help maximise your audio quality as well.

Hair good? Clothes and any jewellery straight? Check what your audience can see behind you in the background.
